Per Andy Greder, redshirt sophomore quarterback Demry Croft will transfer from Minnesota. Croft was suspended from the team for undisclosed reasons for three games before taking over at midseason for redshirt senior quarterback Conor Rhoda, but struggled in six starts for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. He finished the season 51-of-122 (41.8%) for 674 passing yards with four touchdowns and seven interceptions.
Croft’s unexpected departure, coupled with the graduation of Rhoda, leaves head coach P.J. Fleck and the Gophers in a precarious position for next season. Just two scholarship quarterbacks remain on the roster — redshirt freshman Seth Green and true freshman Tanner Morgan — and only Green has seen (albeit, limited) game action after being inserted for mop-up duty against Middle Tennessee State earlier this season.
