Related Topics: Minnesota, Illinois, COVID-19

Minnesota announced Thursday morning that defensive coordinator Joe Rossi has tested positive for COVID-19 and will not be coaching in Saturday’s game against Illinois.

No other members of the coaching staff have tested positive.

Safeties/nickel backs coach and defensive co-coordinator Joe Harasymiak will take over play-calling duties against the Illini. He takes over a Gopher defense that ranks 109th nationally in rushing defense (268.5 rushing yards allowed per game), 104th in passing defense (309.5 passing yards allowed per game), and 110th in scoring defense (47 points allowed per game).

Godspeed and good luck to him.
