Minnesota goaltender Jack LaFontaine was named this year's winner of the Mike Richter Award as the nation's top goalie, as awarded by the American Hockey Coaches Association.
LaFontaine, who was named First Team All-CHN goaltender, leads the nation in save percentage among players with 20-plus games played, at .934.
A senior who had transferred from Michigan, LaFontaine blossomed his last two seasons with the Gophers. Minnesota lost in the NCAA Regional final.
LaFontaine has announced he would return for a fifth year with Minnesota.
