Given Boston's place in college hockey tradition, the city has, surprisingly, hosted relatively few Frozen Fours.
Actually, it hosted the first one officially called the Frozen Four, in 1998. Prior to that, it hadn't hosted for 24 years, the last of a three-year run at the old Boston Garden from 1972-74.
Before that, if you don't count one played in Chestnut Hill at Boston College's old McHugh Forum in 1963, the only other one was in 1960 at Boston Arena (now known as Matthews Arena). This year will be the eighth.
Since 1998, the new TD Garden has been host to a pair of classics — the 2004 event that ended in 6-on-3 madness in the championship; and the 2015 games where Providence, and an infamous own goal, ruined Jack Eichel's coronation.
