The University of Minnesota women's hockey team jumped out to a three-goal lead and then held off Minnesota State Mankato's third-period rally to escape with a 3-2 victory Saturday at Ridder Arena.
The No. 3 Gophers scored all three of their goals in the second period. Kelly Pannek opened the scoring on a five-on-three advantage. Dani Cameranesi followed with her NCAA-best 10th power-play goal of the season just 25 seconds later.
"The power play was good," Gophers coach Brad Frost said. "I think that was the second five-on-three we've had all year, so it was nice to cash in and come back with another goal right after that as well.
