University of Minnesota women's basketball coach Marlene Stollings announced Friday the signing of Annalese Lamke and Jessie Edwards, a pair of 6-foot-3 centers she hopes will help fill a big hole in the middle.
The Gophers lost Big Ten co-player of the year and All-American Amanda Zahui B. to the WNBA after last season, but the 2015 recruiting class includes three post players.
Lamke averaged 19.8 points and 7.7 rebounds last season Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School in Galesville, Wis. She was released from her signed letter of intent by Northern Illinois.
Stollings compares Lamke to former Gophers All-American Janel McCarville, who is from Stevens Point, Wis.
