Rutgers rallied from an 11-point deficit in the second quarter to defeat Minnesota 66-55 in a Big Ten Conference women's basketball opener Thursday at Piscataway, N.J.
The game featured multiple runs. After falling behind 9-3, the Gophers (8-4) went on a 15-2 run to lead 18-11 after one quarter on Rachel Banham's three-pointer at the buzzer. They extended the lead to 11 points in the second quarter before Rutgers responded with a run of its own, pulling within 24-20.
Minnesota led 33-27 at the half, but Rutgers (10-3) took a 45-44 lead early in the fourth quarter and wound up outscoring the Gophers 25-11 in the final quarter.
