As the Sports Pavilion rocked next door during the opening round of the NCAA volleyball tournament last week, Gophers women's basketball coach Marlene Stollings stopped practice on the Williams Arena court to have her players listen to the crowd noise bumping through the walls.
Stollings used the Minnesota volleyball team as an example of where she wanted her team to be this year.
"We've been talking about them in practice for a week or so now," she said. "When they were playing Friday night, we were in here practicing. And every time the crowd would roar, a couple times, I blew the whistle and stopped.
