Gophers coach Hugh McCutcheon was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association's Division I coach of the year on Thursday.
McCutcheon, already honored this season as Big Ten coach of the year and AVCA North Region coach of the year, is the first University of Minnesota coach to win the national honor.
He is 105-31 in four seasons as the Gophers' coach.
Minnesota (30-4) is playing Texas (29-3) in an NCAA tournament semifinal match on Thursday night in Omaha, Neb. The Gophers are the No. 2 seed in the tournament.
On Tuesday, four Gophers players were named to the AVCA All-America team.
