The University of Minnesota softball team fell behind early but Big Ten player of the year Sara Groenwegen pitched them out of trouble.
New Mexico State scored a pair of runs in the first inning, but that's all Groenwegen would allow as the Gophers routed the Aggies 10-2 in six innings in an NCAA regional semifinal Friday in Tucson, Ariz.
The Aggies (46-15) got to Groenwegen early, but by the end of the first, the Gophers had a 4-2 lead and never looked back.
Groenwegen pitched a complete game, giving up just three hits with 10 strikeouts.
