Minnesota's soccer team earned its ninth NCAA tournament invitation on Monday, one of five Big Ten Conference teams to earn bids in the 64-team championship tournament.
The Gophers (11-6-3) will play host to South Dakota State in the first round Friday at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium at 7 p.m. The winner will advance to meet the the winner of Saturday's match between California and Loyola Marymount on Nov. 20.
Matches are on campus through the Nov. 27-28 quarterfinals.
Big Ten rivals Northwestern (13-5-2), Ohio State (11-6-3), Penn State (16-3-2) and Rutgers (16-3-2) also earned tournament bids.
