Gophers report: Tackle Ben Lauer sidelined by knee injury

Left offensive tackle Ben Lauer injured his left knee during Sunday's practice and had a magnetic resonance imaging test conducted Monday morning.

Although the injury is not expected to be serious, Kill hoped to receive Lauer's prognosis Monday afternoon.

At 6-foot-7, 317 pounds, Lauer started six games at right tackle last season, played in eight and missed five with injury or illness.

"Your get guys dinged up, you are going to have to test your depth pretty quickly," said offensive coordinator Matt Limegrover said.

Lauer, a redshirt junior, moved from right tackle to left tackle this fall as the Gophers try to replace Zac Epping at left guard and Tommy Olson at center.
