The Gophers announced Tuesday contract extensions and raises for men's basketball coach Richard Pitino and women's basketball coach Marlene Stollings.
Pitino, who received an extension through the 2020-21 season, receives a $400,000 annual increase in supplemental compensation, from $700,000 to $1.1 million, bringing his salary to $1.6 million a year.
The third-year Minnesota coach also will receive a $450,000 "retention bonus" is he is still the Gophers' coach on April 30, 2016, and April 30, 2019.
Pitino said in a statement he is "extremely grateful for this opportunity" by U president Eric Kaler and interim athletics director Beth Goetz.
