The Gophers have officially hired Cincinnati assistant coach Chad Wilt. He will replace defensive line coach Jim Panagos, who was hired by Rutgers last month.
Pete Thamel reported Wednesday night that Minnesota was nearing a deal with Wilt. The school confirmed the hire Thursday afternoon.
Wilt served as Cincinnati’s defensive line coach for one season (2019). He has nearly 20 years of coaching experience, including notable stops at Army West Point (2016-18), Maryland (2014-15), Ball State (2011-13), Richmond (2010) and Virginia (2009).
