Down 17-13 with 1:02 left in the game Saturday, the Gophers called a timeout to help continue the 11-play drive Saturday against Colorado State. Quarterback Mitch Leidner returned to the huddle and smiled at his teammates.
"I said, 'Hey, here it is,' " Leidner recalled of the play call that set up the 22-yard touchdown strike down the sideline to receiver KJ Maye. The strike capped an 80-yard drive to put the Gophers ahead 20-17 in an eventual 23-20 overtime win in Fort Collins, Colo.
"The drive going down at the end was something that should give (Leidner) a boatload of confidence," Gophers coach Jerry Kill said.
