Victory Rock Prep (Fla.) center Jonathan Nwankwo was released from his letter of intent with the University of Minnesota after having trouble being admitted to the school, sources said Monday.
"He's extremely upset," a source close to the situation told the Pioneer Press. "But we'll be all right."
Nwankwo, a 6-foot-10, 245-pound senior, signed with Gophers coach Richard Pitino in the early signing period last November.
The New York native was looking forward to joining Minnesota's team after enrolling next month, but he had issues with admissions this week. Minnesota decided to give Nwankwo an opportunity to pursue other options for next season.
