Gophers hockey unleashes freshman Sarah Potomak, and a star is born

Sarah Potomak leads the top-ranked University of Minnesota women's hockey team in scoring with 19 points, which is third overall in the nation, and her 15 assists are the most by any Division I player.

The freshman from Aldergrove, British Columbia, is one of Canada's best young players and has helped the defending NCAA champion Gophers build an 8-0 record and outscore opponents 54-7.

She plays on the Gophers' top line with Hannah Brandt and Dani Cameranesi, who each have nine goals and nine assists for 18 points.

Potomak will play for her national team over the next week in the Four Nations Cup in Sweden.
