Dominic Toninato and Karson Kuhlman scored first-period goals Saturday night to spark Minnesota Duluth to a 3-0 nonconference win over Minnesota at AMSOIL Arena and a sweep of their two-game weekend series.
The Bulldogs (2-1) added another quick score to open the second period when Jared Thomas came out of the penalty box and beat Gophers goalie Eric Schierhorn on a breakaway goal at the 1:10 mark.
That was more than enough support for UMD goalie Kasimi Kaskiuo, who made 21 saves to get the victory.
The Gophers (0-3) went 0 for 7 on the power play while being outshot 33-21.
