The Gophers entered their bye week after losing a third-period lead over an in-state rival, and they did the same thing coming out of it.
Minnesota led No. 7-ranked St. Cloud 2-1 entering the third period Friday night, but the Huskies outshot the Gophers 15-7 in the final period and came away with a 3-2 victory.
The victory was St. Cloud's first on the road against Minnesota since Oct. 22, 2010. It was the Gophers' fourth home loss of the season, after losing only three games at Mariucci Arena last season.
St. Cloud State (10-3) outshot Minnesota 26-12 in the first and third periods, while the Gophers controlled the second with 14 shots to the Huskies' two.
