Gophers hockey: Nick Seeler suspended one game for head shot

Gophers defenseman Nick Seeler has been suspended for one game by the Big Ten Conference for elbowing St. Cloud State defenseman Niklas Nevalainen during a 7-4 loss to the Huskies on Sunday.

Seeler, the Wild's fifth-round pick in the 2011 NHL entry draft, is ineligible for Friday's game against Ohio State.

The Big Ten said Seeler was suspended "for an incident that occurred near the 5:28 mark of the second period against St. Cloud State on Nov. 29." Video shows Seeler hitting Nevalainen, who was trying to corral a puck along the boards, in the face with his left elbow.
