The Gophers solemnly skated off the ice for the last time in March last season, watching another Minnesota school surpass them.
The University of Minnesota was dominated 4-1 by Minnesota Duluth in the first round of the NCAA tournament, the Gophers ending their season with a flat performance against a state rival.
Since then the Gophers have welcomed 11 new players to their roster, but March has remained on the mind of the returning players for No. 13-ranked Minnesota as they prepare for a home-and-home series with the No. 7 Bulldogs this weekend.
"It was a long summer after that last game, and none of us that played on the team last year forgot about that," sophomore defenseman Ryan Collins said.
