The Gophers hockey team returns from Christmas break still wondering what kind of team it can be, but freshman forward Tyler Sheehy looks well past the incubation stage.
The Burnsville native already has become the top producer on the team's first line, ahead of team captain Justin Kloos and assistant captain Connor Reilly.
Sheehy didn't record a point until the Gophers' fourth game, but now he ranks second in goals (7) and third in points (12).
The rookie is playing well beyond expectations as the Gophers (7-8) return to action at 7 p.m. Friday in the Mariucci Classic against Connecticut (5-10-1).
