Gophers football: QB Chris Streveler will practice as receiver

No position switch has been announced for backup quarterback Chris Streveler, but he also will start practicing at wide receiver once fall camp opens Friday, Gophers coach Jerry Kill said.

Streveler, who finished last season as the No. 2 quarterback behind starter Mitch Leidner, spent time working out as a receiver this summer.

"We may practice him a little bit there to see what he does," Kill said at Tuesday's camp press conference. "But that doesn't mean we're going to play him at wide receiver; I just want to make that clear. Could he be used at that?
