Gophers football: Mitch Leidner has biggest night playing for Jerry Kill

Mitch Leidner never looked as hyped before a game this season as he did Saturday night.

The University of Minnesota's starting quarterback sprinted through the end zone in front of the student section waving a "JERRYSOTA" flag.

The same fans who probably were critical of his play earlier in the season were jumping up and down.

Leidner was thinking of Gophers football coach Jerry Kill, who shockingly announced his retirement Wednesday due to health concerns.

Playing for his coach, Leidner had arguably the best game of his career with 354 total yards and two touchdowns, but Minnesota still fell 29-26 to No.
