Gophers freshman Jeff Jones' latest position change is to the other side of the football.
The four-star recruit from Minneapolis Washburn has switched positions to defensive back, according to KFXN-FM.
Jones, who was academically ineligible last season, started at Minnesota as a running back during spring practice and moved to wide receiver.
Retired coach Jerry Kill lauded Jones' football savvy in April as part of the reason for the position switch.
Jones has played in three games this season: vs. Texas Christian on Sept. 3, Kent State on Sept. 19 and Ohio on Sept. 26.
