Gophers basketball team lands transfer recruit from Texas A&M

Texas A&M forward Davonte Fitzgerald had committed to play basketball for University of Minnesota coach Richard Pitino, according to sources.

The 6-foot-7 sophomore averaged 3.5 points and 1.6 rebounds in 25 games in 2014-15. Fitzgerald was having a solid freshman season -- 7.3 points and 2.3 rebounds in 24 games -- before suffering a knee injury.
