Amir Coffey hadn't played an organized basketball game for Hopkins High School since a season-ending left knee injury in December, but his return to the court over the weekend reminded everyone why he's the No. 1 senior in the state of Minnesota.
The 6-foot-7 four-star guard grabbed the ball off the opening tip of a game Saturday and raced down to dunk his first basket.
So much for taking it slow.
Coffey scored 30 and 26 points in back-to-back games at the Pacesetter Sweet 16 in St. Joseph's, Minn. over the weekend to lead the Royals to a championship win over Apple Valley.
