Former Edina High School star Reggie Lynch will transfer to the University of Minnesota to play basketball for the Gophers, according to a source close to the team.
The source said Lynch, a 6-foot-10, 257-pound center, wants to play closer to home after playing the past two seasons at Illinois State, where he averaged 9.5 points and 5.4 rebounds for a team that finished 22-13 and reached the second round of the NIT in 2014-15. His 93 blocks last season were third most in school history.
He will have to sit out the 2015-16 season as a transfer, then have two years of eligibility with the Gophers.
