Richard Pitino had to be held back by his assistant coaches early in the second half Tuesday night with the Gophers trailing by 18 points against South Dakota State.
The third-year Minnesota basketball coach was screaming at the officials for a questionable charging call on Dupree McBrayer.
Surprisingly, that was the first time Pitino had an outburst on the sideline, even though his team faced a 22-point halftime deficit to the Summit League preseason favorite.
The Gophers surely got chewed out in the locker room during the break for embarrassing themselves in front of the home crowd, but that didn't do much to help them come back in a 84-70 loss to South Dakota State.
