Gophers freshman forward Ahmad Gilbert Jr. will be out three to four weeks with a dislocated finger on his left hand, Minnesota coach Richard Pitino said Monday on his radio show.
Gilbert, who had surgery Sunday, started the past two games for Minnesota (6-12, 0-6 Big Ten). He was injured early in the second half of the Gophers' 70-63 loss to Indiana on Saturday.
The 6-foot-6 Philadelphia native averages just 2.4 points and 0.9 rebounds in eight minutes, but he was settling into a key role defensively for the Gophers. He had four steals in a loss at Nebraska last week.
