Twins general manager Terry Ryan said he would support Gophers baseball coach John Anderson to be the University of Minnesota's next athletics director if he wanted the job.
Anderson, the Big Ten's all-time leader in baseball victories, has been coaching Minnesota's baseball program since 1982. His ex-Gophers teammate is current Twins manager Paul Molitor.
Anderson, 60, from Hibbing, Minn., has not said he's interested in replacing Norwood Teague, who resigned last week.
"I know John, and have forever," Ryan said Thursday. "If he wanted that job, that would be kind of an interesting situation because he's been over there for the last three or four choices.
