Minnesota forward Hudson Fasching, who just completed his junior season, has decided to sign with the Buffalo Sabres. He is expected to play in the NHL this season.
Minnesota's season ended Saturday with a loss in the Big Ten tournament championship game.
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Fasching had 20 goals and 38 points this season for the Gophers. His deal is the standard three-year, entry-level contract that pays $925,000 annually.
"We believe he has the potential to be an effective NHL player and wanted to bring him in as soon as possible," Sabres general manager Tim Murray said.
