DETROIT -- De'Vondre Campbell's teeth are encased in gold and his dreadlocks reach the middle of his back, but the Gophers' senior linebacker didn't want to hear flashy recruiting pitches in 2012.
Coming out of Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College, the Texas Longhorns and Kansas State Wildcats told him he would be a starter, Campbell said.
"I didn't know any plays or anything like that, so why lie?" Campbell said. "Just be honest and let me know that I will have the opportunity to start."
Campbell will go into his final game as a Gopher -- Monday's Quick Lane Bowl against Central Michigan -- with 26 starts on his prospective NFL resume.
