LOVELAND, Colo. — Minnesota may have been a one-seed, but it entered this NCAA Tournament with a chip on its shoulder.
One of college hockey’s premier blue blood programs, it hadn’t made the dance since 2017. Before last night’s Regional semifinal win, it hadn’t won a tournament game since 2014.
But it just wasn’t the Gophers' time yet. After winning its first-ever NCAA Tournament game last night, Minnesota State decided to do it again. The Mavericks scored twice in the first period, blocked 23 shots and got 22 saves from Dryden McKay to stymie the Golden Gophers and advance to the Frozen Four.
