The Big Ten baseball tournament kicks off Wednesday at Target Field. The event features the best eight teams the conference has to offer.
The Gophers will not be in attendance.
Minnesota (21-30 overall, 9-15 Big Ten) missed out on the tournament -- the second one held at Target Field, with the first being in 2013 -- after finishing ninth in the 13-team league during the regular season, a half-game behind Nebraska.
"It's disappointing to miss the tournament," Gophers senior shortstop Michael Handel said. "Obviously it'd be great to play here in front of our home fans at Target Field.
