Hamline senior defenseman and Hill-Murray graduate Jenny Magill was "kind of scared, in a good way" when hockey legend Natalie Darwitz became the Pipers' head coach in April.
"We knew we were going to get pushed more than ever," Magill said.
She was right.
Darwitz and her coaching staff have spent six months gutting the culture within Hamline's women's hockey program. The Pipers started practicing last week and will open their season on Friday against Concordia-Wisconsin.
"It's a crazy change from last year; everyone is definitely looking forward to games already," Magill said. "Our practice mentality is so much quicker and faster.
