Allina Starr surprised her friends and family in Minnesota when she talked about quitting basketball after her first year in college.
The former DeLaSalle High School star wasn't getting a lot of playing time as a freshman at Auburn. She was homesick, and she started questioning her love for the game.
"I really didn't want to play basketball anymore," said Starr, now a University of Minnesota sophomore.
But it turns out transferring home to play for the Gophers was exactly what she needed to revive her passion.
Minnesota coach Marlene Stollings immediately put Starr in the starting lineup once she was eligible to play to open the Big Ten last week.
