Having just declared for the 2020 NBA Draft last week, Daniel Oturu is attempting to do what no Minnesota Golden Gopher has done in nearly 16 years.
No Minnesota product has been selected in the first round of the NBA Draft since retired big man Kris Humphries did so back in 2004 and it’s Oturu who has the best shot of breaking that mark whenever the draft will be held this summer.
That’s thanks to the notable leap the Brooklyn-born Oturu made between his freshman and sophomore campaigns for Minnesota to become the focal point of the team’s offense under head coach Richard Pitino during the 2019-20 season.
