In the biggest game in Australian basketball history, the Boomers were sadly blown away by an outstanding performance from a Serbia team who they had managed to beat earlier in the competition.
For as much as the Australians were off their game on Friday evening, the Serbians were more locked in than they had been at any previous point in the 2016 Games.
Serbia’s offense was reminiscent of the one employed by Australia to tear multiple teams apart en route to the semi-finals, but their defensive showing was even better.

In the previous meetings between the two teams, Matthew Dellavedova, Patty Mills and Andrew Bogut were given the time and freedom to dictate the pace and outcome of the game.
