Cleveland — What was supposed to be a breakout season for Wily Peralta has instead turned into an exercise in frustration for the 26-year-old right-hander.
One year after leading the Milwaukee Brewers in victories with 17, strikeouts with 154 and posting a solid 3.53 ERA in 32 starts, Peralta's numbers have dropped off considerably.
A strained left oblique led to an almost nine-week stay on the disabled list that began May 23. Peralta pitched poorly before that and he's been inconsistent since returning July 28.
Following a season-low 22/3-inning outing in an 11-6 loss to the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field, Peralta saw his record drop to 4-8 while his ERA rose to 4.
