Wily Peralta named Brewers' opening-day starter

Phoenix – Wily Peralta will be the Milwaukee Brewers' opening-day starter on April 4 against the San Francisco Giants based on his track record and not his recent struggles, manager Craig Counsell said Monday.

It will be the first opening-day start for the right-hander, who is entering his fifth major-league season.

Peralta earned the nod despite a 2015 season in which he went 5-10 with a 4.72 earned-run average while missing more than two months with a strained left oblique. He's also struggled mightily this spring, with a 1-2 record and 11.
