MILWAUKEE -- Brewers pitching prospect Taylor Williams will undergo Tommy John surgery on Tuesday to repair a ligament injury in his right elbow that has sidelined the 24-year-old all season. He will be the first player in the organization to undergo the procedure this year.
Williams, the 17th-ranked Brewers prospect as ranked by MLBPipeline.com, was an early standout in Spring Training before developing discomfort in March. Dr. William Raasch will perform the surgery in Milwaukee.
"You're always hopeful that rehab is going to work," Brewers assistant general manager Gord Ash said, "but in this case, it didn't.
