The Brewers added an arm to their bullpen on Saturday, signing right-hander Carlos Torres to a one-year Major League contract.
Torres had opted out of his Minor League contract with the Braves on Thursday, thereby becoming a free agent. The 33-year-old made eight appearances for Atlanta this spring, allowing four earned runs on seven hits over nine innings with five walks and six strikeouts.
In 59 games with the Mets last season, Torres posted a 4.68 ERA over 57 2/3 innings with 18 walks and 48 strikeouts. He also has pitched for the White Sox and Rockies over parts of six seasons, with a career ERA of 4.
