CINCINNATI -- Tyler Thornburg recorded only one out and threw all of six pitches on Thursday, yet it was his biggest outing of the season by far. And not just because Thornburg struck out Aramis Ramirez with a pair of runners on base in the seventh inning of a one-run game.
"First back-to-back this year," Thornburg said.
Pitching on consecutive days was a big deal for the 26-year-old former top Brewers prospect. Thornburg was a standout as Milwaukee charged to the top of the National League standings in early 2014, but the heaviest workload of his career came with a price when he developed a right elbow injury.
