CHICAGO -- Athletic trainers from the Brewers and Cubs rushed to Jean Segura's side Sunday after the Milwaukee shortstop was struck in the head by a 95-mph fastball in the eighth inning at Wrigley Field.
With the teams tied at 3 and the Brewers mounting a rally, Segura squared to bunt and could not elude Pedro Strop's fastball. It appeared to strike just above the brim of his helmet. Segura lay motionless in the dirt near home plate for two minutes before getting to his feet and walking to first base.
It appeared for a moment that Segura would remain in the game, but he was instead helped to the dugout by Brewers first-base coach Mike Guerrero.
