Sometimes, you have to take the long view when you're a major-league baseball manager, particularly when trying to change a losing culture into a winning one.
On any particular day, that vision might not be appreciated by paying customers worried primarily about getting their money's worth that game.
"People pay really good money to come to this ballpark, come to the ballpark in Kansas City," said former Milwaukee Brewers manager Ned Yost, who returned Monday night to Miller Park with the first-place Royals.
"They want to see you win tonight. They don't care if you're developing a kid that you think down the road is going to help you win a championship.
