Cincinnati — The trickle of reinforcements from the minor leagues continued Friday for the Milwaukee Brewers, who selected the contract of pitcher Ariel Peña from Class AAA Colorado Springs.
Peña, a right-hander, was available to pitch out of the bullpen as the Brewers opened a three-game series with the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park, but as it turned out the game was postponed due to heavy rain.
A day-night doubleheader is scheduled for Saturday at 12:10 p.m. and 5:10 p.m.
"We were going to call him up the last couple days (of the season at Colorado Springs), but with where we're at in the bullpen that probably just sped it up a little bit," manager Craig Counsell said of Peña.
