The Brewers haven’t had an All-Star starter since 2019, when Christian Yelich, fresh off an MVP season, started at Progressive Field in Cleveland. Before that, the Brewers hadn’t had a starter since three Brewers (Jonathan Lucroy, Aramis Ramirez, and Carlos Gomez) started at Target Field in Minnesota.
This year, I expect that drought to come to a close.
With both William Contreras and Christian Yelich vying for All-Star selections, I’d expect at least one, if not both, of them to get the starting nod.
Contreras is hitting .313/.382/.482 (144 OPS+) with eight homers, 44 RBIs, 48 runs scored, and four steals in 62 games, while Yelich is hitting .
