The Milwaukee Brewers are promoting from within to replace Carlos Subero as their first base coach, according to reports.
Robert Murray says that job will go to assistant hitting coach Jason Lane.
Another report (and the Twitter account of the party in question) says the Brewers have hired Pittsburgh assistant hitting coach Jacob Cruz to the same role. Cruz previously worked with hitting coach Andy Haines in Chicago, and could also serve an important communicaion role, as he speaks Spanish. The Brewers lost one of its few Spanish-speaking coaches when they let Subero go.
