Marcos Diplan was designated for assignment earlier this week to make room for Jordan Lyles on the 40-man roster, and with there no longer being a waiver trade period, had to be traded today if the Brewers wanted anything for him.
It turns out they did just that, although not for much.
Diplan was struggling this year in Double-A Biloxi, putting up a 4.99 ERA in 57.2 innings while striking out 63, but walking 37. The organization seemed to have soured on the idea of him ever developing into a starter this year.
